Of animals, real and stuffed

It was in 1979, in Hamburg, in Germany: I went into one of the Altona shops, the window promised a kind of bric-a-brac of sailor's souvenirs. Dusty shop windows, old damaged postcards, some sex-tools of another age. In a corner, an enormous engraving, burned at the darkened edges, (a survivor of the terrible bombardment, during the operation " Gommorah " of the city in 1943?), showing palm trees and a three-mast.

A strange smell attracted me to a rather dark corridor where I fell on a real zoo of stuffed animals but in full decay …

This black and white suite opens with this false zoo, which is then mixed with the life and the death of animals.
